Isak Strand vs. TOE was formed out of non-conformity. What was first a four-man band also called Isak Strand & the Resin Band, you can all see why it changed, transformed through a creative process involving a man with a saxophone and a boy with a trumpet. They didn’t know what their sound was so they stuck with that and created a genreless sound, a fusion of soul, reggae, jazz, pop and everything between and called it Isak Strand vs. TOE.
It all started with a bus ride. Isak met Andreas and during the seven hour bus trip they discussed nothing but music. The man with the plan, also known as Hawkeye, assembled a band with Tom and Arvid and together they released the album You And Me And Yes You Two which became a huge success in Sweden and during it’s first months it got over a million plays on Spotify.
Something was missing. Horns of somekind. So Hawkeye came up with a new plan and found Johan and Filip, two excellent musicians who played the trumpet and saxophone. They did only a couple of live shows together and realized they had hit the jackpot. They released the EP Stories of the Bronze Age and toured with it during the fall of 2010.
More music is needed to fill the restless souls of the youth. The band wanted to show their new skin and they had the songs so why don’t record them they thought? Together with the slick Johan Lyxell, who also produced the other two releases, and the ace up the sleeve, George Allen, they went to the huge live studio 301 and recorded what would become the EP Be All We Could.
The future? Follow it here and you will find out!
